When it comes to stock market volatility, this could be because of a number of factors. But often times it is due to economic data reports. When important reports (highlighted yellow) are expected to be released, this can result in market volatility, or lack thereof.
This is what I like to call the stock market being “on edge”. As investors, this is important to know because these can impact your wealth, or interrupt your compounding. Particularly, if you’re inexperienced.
See, when markets start experiencing increased volatility, like this last month mainly in crypto and AI-related stocks, this can cause panic in some investors.
This is where patience and equanimity come in. Inexperienced investors sometimes think when a company is highly volatile, it means something is wrong with the company.
When the answer could actually be much simpler. It could be because of upcoming reports, options expirations, or something that a peer is dealing with that is impacting your holding. This is why it’s prudent to know what’s going on with your investments and the market at all times.
